Tourism Whistler's Communications Department recognizes the value of
exposure available through commercial film and photography productions.
In some cases we may be able to assist productions that meet specific filming requirements.

Municipal Requirements
Any commercial production companies (news media exempt) wishing to film on municipal land must obtain a film permit from the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
To obtain a permit please contact the municipal office at 604-935-8109 or info@whistler.ca. Productions are required to submit a permit fee and a damage deposit in advance of filming. Long-term productions will also require a Whistler business licence.
The municipal government requires proof of liability insurance for $3 million Cdn liability, naming the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the Whistler Village Land Company and Tourism Whistler as additional insured.

Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Requirements
Whistler Blackcomb should be able to offer assistance with mountain guides and first aid. To ensure all activities have a zero environmental impact and safety of the crew on the mountain all productions taking place on Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain must hire a Mountain Liaison Guide.
Canadian Snowmobile Adventures is a local company authorized by Whistler Blackcomb to provide assistance with transportation. They offer snowmobiles, snowcats, snow coaches, 4x4 vehicles and trailers.

Whistler Blackcomb also requires a minimum of $10,000,000 Comprehensive General Liability insurance for all film productions.
Photography shoots require a minimum of $2,000,000 Comprehensive General Liability insurance naming Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises Limited Partnership, Whistler Mountain Resort Limited Partnership, Intrawest Corporation and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of the Province of British Columbia as presented by Land and Water British Columbia Inc. named.
