Whistler’s alpine wellness: it’s not always about the spa Whistler’s alpine wellness: it’s all about the spa! New Scandinavian spa arrives in Whistler

A Scandinavian flavour has arrived in Whistler with the recent opening of the Scandinave Spa, January 2010. The $8 million spa development encompasses over 20,000 square feet, includes six separate buildings on three acres of forest, and is located at the northern edge of the Resort.  Known for their energizing and relaxing properties, the Scandinavian baths improve blood circulation, release endorphins and contribute to improvement in one's physical condition. The Scandinavian baths experience includes a Norwegian steam bath with eucalyptus, wood-burning Finnish dry sauna, outdoor hot therapeutic baths, thermal and Nordic waterfalls, cold baths and cold shower, solariums, relaxation areas and an outdoor fireplace. Massage packages such as Swedish massage are also available. In keeping with its eco-friendly mandate, Le Scandinave Spa has incorporated many green initiatives in its construction and operation, including vegetated "green" roofs, optimized solar access and passive solar heating on all major buildings. This is the first spa of its kind in Western Canada. Scandinave Spa currently operates three Scandinavian spas on the east coast, the Whistler spa opened January 2010.
